Route Ready to Roll

Posted by Mark Moxon on 31 March 2008

Momentous news (well, it is for me). At the end of last week I finished mapping the last stretch of my tubewalk, and this week I hope to publish my proposed route right here, in the form of a collection of Google Maps, one for each line. The next step is to add the points of interest I’m hoping to visit en route, but I’m just relieved that the biggest chunk of planning is done and dusted.

For those who are interested, I’ll explain how I created the routes when I publish them. Non-nerds might want to look away… :-)

    Hi Mark,

This looks like a fascinating, if massive undertaking, especially once you start looking at the list of stations. I can see it’s not Land’s End to John o’Groats but you’ve gotta look after those feet even so ;-)

I hope you’ve planned in some rest days, including Thursday 7th August for the GBBF ?

Expecting to see you there, if not before, and catch up with all the stories you haven’t got round to blogging about by then.

Good luck and I’ll be RSS’ing you to keep on top of the latest developments.

    Mark

    Hi Mark.

Ah yes, the feet. Luckily I have a pair of posh trainers I bought from the London Marathon shop about a year ago when I thought I was going to be working from home more; I figured jogging for 15 minutes a day was a good way to prevent cabin fever, but I haven’t really worked from home since (probably in fear of jogging). So for the urban bits, it’s trainers, and for the rest I’ve got a nice soft, worn-in pair of walking boots. Still, I bet the blisters still kick in…

7 August is a date, and I’ll get myself a ticket as soon as I get a chance. The only quandary is whether or not to walk on the Friday; it might actually help clear my head, doing a few miles. :-)

Hope to see you before then, though.

    Mark
