I have just found your site and will start to read it with some interest. I am planning a Dover to Penzance walk for next spring, so it will be interesting to study your route to the South West. I could be following the South Downs Way from Eastbourne to Winchester and then hike across to Glastonbury/Street and follow your route backwards from there as much as I can. My target is up to 20 miles a day, so my stages will vary.
I don't know why Devon and Cornwall are devoid of recognised named trails apart from the coastal routes, so your route will be interesting to study.
Thanks!

Hi Andrew.

My pleasure! Glad you're finding the route useful.

I found the central route through Devon and Cornwall to be pretty charming. It was certainly a lot gentler than the up-and-downs of the Southwest Coastal Path, and those winding Cornish lanes are a delight in nice weather (as long as you're OK with sharing them with the odd car). The coast is stunning, but the middle bit is very overlooked.

I hope you enjoy it! It's a lovely part of the world...

Best wishes,

Mark
