Subject: the possibility of camping on Land's End to John o'Groats

Hi Mark,
Much thanks & kudos to your blog as it's entertainingly provided answers to so many of my questions.

I'm an American working in Myanmar hoping to hike the length of GB next summer with limited funds & time--approx. 65 days.

I've just begun to tackle your site, but was curious as to the possibility of camping for as many as 50 to 60 days along the trails.

Would that even be a viable option?

Thanks,
David Rowland

Hi David.

Yes, that is a viable option. Loads of people who do the walk camp all the way, varying from campsites to wild camping (which is legal in Scotland, and generally accepted in England if you respect where you're camping).

I haven't done it myself - I'm way too soft and pampered! - but if you take a look at the links on my Useful Links page:

www.landsendjohnogroats.info/walking_tips/links.html

and take a look through some of the other walkers' journals listed there, you'll come across a lot of campers. It's the most popular way to do it, given the cost of accommodation and the length of the walk.

I hope this helps, and good luck with the planning!

Best wishes,

Mark
